Professor Dr. Armin Heinzl
Chair of General Management and Information Systems at the University of Mannheim
Module 1: Value-Based IT Management
Value-based management is a management approach that puts a company’s value at the center of all management decisions and activities. Following a broad perspective on value creation, this course does not focus on conventional performance metrics. Rather, our goal is to provide a holistic view and some additional knowledge on what drives value creation.
Therefore, this course will approach the topic from six different angles, which correspond to the six modules provided in the course. Each module is presented by a professor of Mannheim Business School, providing special insights from his or her research field. These modules are:
Value-Based IT Management (Starting March 1st)
Corporate Social Responsibility (Starting March 8th)
Organizational Learning (Starting March 15th)
Company Taxation and Value-Based Management (Starting March 22nd)
Value-Based Marketing (Starting March 29th)
The Finance Function (Starting April 5th)
The modules are designed for self-paced learning. The learning content of the modules will be released on the given dates. After the release of a module and until the end of the online course, you will be able to watch the videos whenever you want. You will have the opportunity to monitor your progress by solving self-test quizzes and minor case studies provided by the instructors.
We also encourage you to comment on questions and course content in the discussion forum, where you have the chance to interact with other learners. Our course team will answer open questions and provide you with aggregated feedback from the instructors on a regular basis.
