Information We Collect

We collect information, including personal data, when you sign up for a user account, participate in online courses, register for a paid certificate, send us email messages and/or participate in our public forums.

We also collect certain learning analytics information about student performance and patterns of learning.

This website uses etracker technology (www.etracker.com) to collect data on visitor behavior. The data is collected anonymously for use in research and optimization of the platform and the offered services. All visitor data is saved using an anonymous user ID and can be used to aggregate a usage profile. Cookies may be used for this purpose. Cookies are small text files that are stored in the local cache of the web browser of the visitor. It is possible to use these cookies to recognize the web browser of a visitor. The data collected by the etracker technology will not be used to determine the personal identity of a website visitor, and will not be compiled with personal data relating to the person referred to by the pseudonym, unless agreed to separately by the person concerned. The collection and storage of data may be revoked at any time with respect to future services.

We do not collect financial information from you. However, if you choose to purchase a certificate of achievement or access to a paid course, you will be directed to our third party payment processor.

Usage and Sharing of Information

We will use your information:

  • to provide, administer, and improve the courses and services;
  • for purposes of scientific research, particularly in the areas of instructional design and learning analytics for purposes of scientific research (anonymous data will be used by faculty and staff members of the University of Mannheim, research results based on the anonymous data may be published);
  • for the purpose for which you specifically provided the information, for example, to respond to a specific inquiry or provide you with access to the specific course content and/or services you select;
  • to monitor and detect violations of the Terms of Service, as well as other misuses and potential misuses of the MBSx website;
  • to publish information, but not personal information, gathered about access, use, impact, and student performance;
  • to send you updates about online courses and digital learning offerings by Mannheim Business School;
  • to send you email messages about website maintenance or updates;
  • to archive this information and/or use it for future communications with you;

Protection of Data Subject Rights

As a user of our MBSx website offering, you have the right to receive information regarding your personal data stored by us at any time and without charge. In addition, you may request MBS to block, delete, or correct your data at any time. Should we receive a justified blocking or revocation request, your data will be immediately blocked or deleted.
